Alex is Doing Well

Alex visited the doctor a few days ago, and he is in good shape. He is growing very well, and he is much, much larger than average for his age, as you can see in Alex's growth charts. Alex is also beginning to sleep longer, he is now feeding about every 3 to 3.5 hours during the day, and every 4 to 5 hours during the night. We hope that he will soon realize that he can actually sleep all the way through the night, so that his mom and dad can as well.

A great moment for us was when we finally saw Alex smile. All his grandparents already told us that they had seen him smile, but he had not given us this pleasure yet. Rob saw the beginning of a smile last week, but his enthusiastic reaction startled Alex and that was the end of that. But earlier this week, on Jan 2, Rob finally got to see a real ear-to-ear smile, and today Alex smiled at both of his parents so that Cindy finally got to see his smile as well! Perhaps we will be able to capture his smile in the next closeup!

Great Ways to Sleep

Alex has found a mysterious way to sleep. Hands motionlessly suspended in mid-air...

The Grippy Guessing Game has a winner!

The only person who guessed November 19 as the day Alex was born, was Rob... But he will only get an honorable mention for his correct guess. We have given a box of Grippy Guessing Game Godiva Chocolate to Richard, who was only a day off, and who had Alex's length exactly right and was close in weight. But it was a tight race, as you can see in final score.

An interesting bit of trivia is that Alex's birth weight (at 4320 grams or roughly 9 lb 8.5 oz) was heavier than the heaviest guess. As you can see in Alex's growth charts, he is still growing fast. After 4 weeks he was already wearing 3 to 6 months clothing.
