On July 6 the second set of sonograms was done. These too were very exciting, because this was when we could find out whether Grippy is a boy or a girl. We were rooting for a girl, we were afraid they would not be able to tell from the sonograms yet - who knows, Grippy might have been trying to hide things - and the indications are that Grippy is a boy! The most important thing, of course, is that Grippy appears to be healthy and normal. A good friend of ours, who is an OB/GYN nurse, told us that it is perfectly normal for the parents to always get the other sex than they hoped for. In fact, she found that the best indicator for the sex of the baby is the opposite of what the parents hope for!

Below are four snapshots from the extensive sonogram examination. It was very, very impressive to see the sonograms. The amount of details, as you can see in the image, is incredible. It was great to see Grippy move during the sonograms. Apparently, he likes to move his arms around a lot too, and in one of the sonograms (for which we unfortunately do not have a picture) he was gripping the umbilical cord!

Grippy's movements are becoming stronger and stronger, and if you could peek into our house, chances are you would find us staring at Cindy's stomach, hoping to see something from the outside.

Grippy is 19.5 weeks old in these sonograms, his length is about 5.5 inch (14 cm) and his weight 7 ounce (200 g).
