The first two days after delivery, Cindy and Alex had to stay in the hospital. This is standard practice in the U.S., and during this time both the mother and the baby are monitored, to make sure both are doing well.

In our case, both Alex and Cindy were doing great, and on Wednesday morning the doctor told Cindy that she could go home at 4 pm. We were very excited about this, and we were looking forward to having Alex at home. Before we could leave, we had to see the hospital pediatrician one more time. Four o'clock came and went, and Alex was getting hungry again. But at about 6:30 pm the doctor finally came, and after we fed Alex we were on our way home!
