After a tiring two days for Cindy in the hospital, it was time for the girls to come home. The hospital stay had been tiring, because there were hardly any opportunities for Cindy to sleep. Even though Irene Maaike slept for long stretches in the first two nights of her life, going about three or four hours between feedings, there would always be one or two nurses coming for a checkup on either Cindy or the baby.

Rob in the meantime had been sleeping quite peacefully at home. But that was about to end with the return of Cindy and the arrival of Irene.

Alex was happy to help to bring the empty carseat to Cindy's room, and he also made sure, again, that noone came close to a fire alarm. He was also supervising while Rob and Cindy put Irene in her carseat for the first time.

A nurse wheeled Cindy to the front entrance in a wheelchair, and Rob carried Irene Maaike. Once outside, Irene was not quite sure whether she liked this bright sunlight and the 85 degree (30 degree C) heat, but she dealt with it fine, especially after a few layers of clothing had been removed and she was put in the car with the airconditioning on. Alex was intrigued to see someone else in the back of the car, and spend most of the way home studying his sister.

Irene was rather unmoved by the arrival in her new house, but Alex liked it a lot, and immediately wanted to hold the baby, wanted to be with her, and wanted to play with her. He is a great big brother!
